grace in small things: the sounds of summer

  • the rattle of a diving board
  • the splash of the biggest cannonball ever
  • the squeals of children as they are squirted with a water gun
  • the quiet tweets of birds during a morning run
  • the hellos of neighbors heard while out walking
  • the decision that it’s too hot to cook so we should just order pizza
  • the gentle lapping of Lake Michigan’s waves
  • the singing sands squeaking beneath my feet on the Lake’s shoreline

I find grace in this season even with my eyes closed.
