Two years ago we embarked on the Great American Road Trip. We traveled Southwest from our humble Midwestern home and had many wonderful adventures.
Tomorrow we embark on what we’re calling the Great American Road Trip II. We’re heading West again but this time towards the North for all new sights and adventures.
We’ve been talking about this trip since we returned from the first one. We planned it all out over the winter. I’ve spent a good chunk of time in the past month or so planning our specific excursions…. and debating the need for bear spray. (I’m opting for the strategy of making lots of noise on our hikes and keeping our eyes open. Most of the articles I’ve read said that by the time you need bear spray, it’s almost too late. Let’s hope my strategy is a good one.)
We will go on hikes, drive through summits and valleys, view geysers and hot springs. We will raft down rivers, climb on rocks and explore dormant volcanoes. We will stay in mom & pop motels with outdoor pools. We will eat junk food and sing songs loudly.
- 4,000 miles in the car
- Eight National Parks
- One extra large bag of sweet & sour chewy candy
- 8GB on my memory card for photos
- 12 pairs of socks x 5 people
- countless memories to be made
This is gonna be good. 🙂
