Dear Mother Nature,
Once again I woke up to temperatures below zero. There’s a chance of more snow this afternoon. And yes, you guessed it, the kids still don’t have school. The roads are a snow-packed, icy mess – especially rural, open roads. You’re a mom so you can appreciate how difficult it is when your kids’ schedules are completely whack. There have been no obligations this week so there has been no incentive to go to bed at a decent hour, to wake up before noon, to eat meals at normal times of the day. It would have been an easier transition on Monday because we were fairly busy over break. Now, it’s going to be ridiculous.
Working outside the home you may not realize this but trying to get work done and keep up with chores with a house full of antsy kids isn’t fun. We exhausted our roster of indoor activities long ago. The feeling of being cooped up is starting to wear on all of us.
I’m writing to ask you one simple question: Why did you decide to extend the arctic circle all the way down here?
I don’t mind your snow – in fact I think it’s beautiful. I’m just wondering if you could warm things up a few degrees. Just enough so that the kids can play in the snow. So that the roads can be cleared. So that everyone can safely go SOMEWHERE ELSE tomorrow. I’m not asking for an early spring or anything radical. Just 15 degrees or so would probably do the trick.
I hope you and old man winter are having a great time playing cards or whatever it is you do to pass the time this season. Thanks for listening.
