A Dunes Hike Haiku

I try so hard to appreciate the fact that I live just a short drive from the beautiful Lake Michigan lakefront and dunes.

Today I took myself on a morning hike, just as the sun was rising above the trees. I had the whole park to myself. Blue skies, 45 degrees, fall colors… it was just the mini-retreat I needed at the end of a long week. It even inspired poetry 🙂

Wind rustling the leaves

Dune grass blowing to and fro

Waves lapping the shore
